Our mission is to provide public advocacy and preserve the common values of the Prairie Park Corridor. To protect and preserve the green space for wildlife and nature lovers alike. This includes, but not limited to; the Prairie Park Fishery, Sac and Fox Trail, and surrounding residential areas of the nature corridor. In doing so, it will allow the nature corridor to be enjoyed by patrons and residents for generations to come.
We strongly oppose Cargill, Inc.’s construction of an industrial rail yard in an environmentally-fragile flood-plain bordering our homes in the middle of the Prairie Park Corridor. This includes 27.5 acres of land that the City of Cedar Rapids purchased for a public park space and converted to a Prairie Pollinator Zone and protected Open Space recreational land.
Against the nearly-unanimous objection of residents and users of this nature corridor, the City of Cedar Rapid’s government bodies, have taken extraordinary, steps to accommodate Cargill’s desire to build a rail yard at this location.
We need your help. Success means letting the City know this is NOT what our City’s residents want for this corridor. If you use this Corridor, or just feel that it is important that this treasured public resource remains undisturbed for future generations to enjoy, let us know by signing up below to help join our cause.
